This fall, MAAP’s global ride series returned to celebrate the Equinox, the fleeting moment when day and night balance equally around the world. After circling Stanley Park in the spring, our shop club Diversion chose to mark the occasion by chasing the sunrise across Vancouver’s North Shore.
In true Vancouver fashion, the morning greeted us with grey skies and steady rain. As we gathered in the clubhouse over coffee and donuts, we looked north toward a wall of clouds draped over the mountains. A glance south, however, revealed clearer skies over Richmond. The choice was obvious, we would head toward the sun.
Rolling out, the rain eased and the only spray came from our tires. The air warmed, layers came off, and spirits lifted. Richmond’s flat roads carried us quickly south, and soon patches of sunlight broke through. At the edge of the city, overlooking the Fraser River, we paused to refuel with Ex Animo Bakery donuts and Sebastien & Phil coffee. What started dark and stormy turned into a quintessential Vancouver fall ride: unpredictable, wet in spots, but ultimately beautiful.
Back at the clubhouse, the community came together for pizza, drinks, and a first look at MAAP’s new Fall/Winter collection. Stories from summer rides mixed with excitement for what is ahead.
A huge thank you to MAAP for the support and inspiration, our local ambassadors Emily Neil and Emma Novotny for helping bring it all together, and to everyone who showed up despite the weather. Here is to more fall riding and to next year’s Spring Equinox.
